A simple country girl,
they all said she was pretty,
loved to feel the grass beneath her feet.

Slow life on the farm,
She had never seen the city,
but heard they all moved to a different beat.

One day she went off to find herself,
stole the pack of cigarettes from her daddy's shelf.
Traded in her blue jeans stained with grass.
Hopped a bus to find all the big buildings of steel and glass.

She got lost in her bag
she was looking for a light for her smoke.
Lost in the world and she couldn't find a way she could cope.

A pretty farmer's daughter.
Grew up wild and free.
Spent her days riding horses in the rain.

Now she rushes here and there,
so much to do and see.
Life moves faster than a subway train.

She left to find the things she didn't know.
Didn't realize how much she had to grow.
Now her fingernails are painted, and she wears a fancy dress.
She never realized she could get in such a mess.

Lost in her bag and she can't find a light for her smoke.
Lost in the world and trying to find a way she could cope.

She decided that she'd seen enough.
The city lights were blinding,
and the concrete was so rough.
No more choking on that smoky air.
Back to open skies,
and life that grows with care.

A grown-up woman now,
exploring new horizons,
No longer the innocent country girl.

Back to riding horses,
but world-weary and wisened.
Knows she's found her place in the world.

No longer lost in her back and looking for a lighter for her smoke.
Now she's found her own ground and the future is planted with Hope...
